Since 1968, New York Zendo Shobo-Ji has opened its doors to
the public on Thursday evenings. We offer a Zazen Introduction Class and
orientation for first-time participants. About one Thursday a month there is a
talk given by either a senior lay student from New York Zendo, a monk or nun
from Dai Bosatsu Zendo (our monastery in the Catskills), or our Abbot,
Venerable Eido Shimano Roshi. See 2008 Calendar for Dharma talk dates.
If you would like to join us, please observe the following points:
No reservations are necessary. Doors open at 6:15 pm, please arrive no later
than 6:55 pm. Latecomers are not admitted. Meetings end by 9pm. A $15
donation is requested, no checks can be accepted. Loose fitting clothing, and
subdued colors are best. Please do not wear scented cosmetics, shut off
beeping watches, cell phones should be turned to silent. A quiet,
undistracting atmosphere is essential to our practice.
We are located at 223 East 67th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenue.
See map.
We look forward to seeing you and practicing together at New York Zendo.
